Nilfisk CFM Unveils New Vacuum Cleaners for the Food Industry at Process Expo
S2 and S3 are Equipped with Cutting-Edge Innovations and Industry-Specific Features
An interview with Paul R. Miller, Vice President and General Manager of Nilfisk CFM Industrial Vacuums, North America
Nilfisk CFM, one of the world’s leading industrial vacuum manufacturers, is unveiling their new food processing vacuum cleaners, the S2 and S3, at this year’s Process Expo show.
According to Paul Miller, Vice President and General Manager of Nilfisk CFM, North America, the new single-phase vacuums, being coined as the next generation of industrial vacuums, feature cutting-edge innovations never before seen in the industry; Innovations like an electronic keypad with LED indicators that monitor the performance of the filters and a modular design for easy do-it-yourself modifications, upgrades and servicing.
The S2 is a 2-motor machine that comes with a 50 liter (13 gallon) collection container. The S3, 3-motor machine can be equipped with either a 50 or 100 liter (26 gallon) collection capacity. Both machines are constructed of heavy-duty steel and polypropylene and come standard with a manual filter shaker to quickly clean the main filter and an accessory storage tray and cable holder for an organized and safe work area. But the bells and whistles don’t stop there.
“Possibly the most impressive attribute these machines offer are the numerous ways they can be configured to specifically meet the cleaning challenges in food processing facilities.” says Miller, “From stainless steel construction to automatic filter cleaning systems to dozens of different types of hose, nozzles and filters, the S2 and S3 can be equipped for the job at hand, whether it’s general maintenance, cleaning out a hot oven or removing sticky whey powder and flour debris from overhead pipes and machinery.”
The company is especially excited about the various collection options, including the new Longopac® system, an “endless” collection bag that can be dispensed as needed to any length and volume. Once filled with the desired quantity, it can be cut, sealed, disposed and then immediately restored for a new use.
“We expect the sophisticated Longopac system to be a big hit in the food industry, allowing for dust-free, fast and efficient disposal of food byproducts.”
The machines also have the ability to collect liquids.
“While the machines may be used to clean up small spills, they can also be equipped to collect larger amounts of liquid,” says Miller. “In this case, manufacturers may find the liquid-cut off option a very efficient feature. Available on the 100-liter S3, the sensor monitors the capacity and automatically shuts off the machine when maximum capacity is achieved. A dry material cut-off system is also available.”
Approved for electrical safety by the ETL, a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, Miller is also pleased with the positive results of other extensive tests the vacuums have undergone with private testing companies, including those that monitor machine vibrations, the control panel, environmental stress, and electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC).
